What is Cold Shrinkable Outdoor/Indoor Cable Termination?

Cold shrinkable outdoor/indoor cable termination is an advanced solution that seals and protects from weather hazards, high voltages, and harsh contaminating environments during both inside and outside installation of the high voltage cables. Cold shrink technology uses pre-expanded silicone or rubber tubing that shrinks onto the cable upon release to make a tight and weatherproof seal, with no need for heat. This method gives a fast and simple installation process without special tools, thereby safer and more effective in different field conditions. Cold shrinkable terminations offer exceptional protection against moisture, UV radiation, and temperature change and are ideal for outdoor use under demanding environmental exposure. The flexible, resilient materials provide constant pressure on the cable insulation to improve the strength and stability of insulation under electrical stress. Additionally, the design is compact enough for an indoor setup confined by limited space – where the insulation and mechanical protection are still reliable.

Stress Control Structure:

This Cold Shrinkable Outdoor / Indoor Cable Termination is designed with a stress control structure, actively distributing electrical stress at the cable end to improve reliability and operational safety in high-voltage applications.

High-Quality Liquid Silicone Rubber:

Made from durable liquid silicone rubber ensuring a secure fit around the cable insulation, the terminations are made. It has excellent elasticity and good insulation, and all other parameters are uniform, which can greatly improve the insulation performance and stability.

Configurable Trifurcation Materials:

Adaptable materials in the trifurcation area are included that can be customized according to the needs of a particular application, thereby making it adaptable to different system configurations.

Resistant to Extreme Environmental Conditions:

Designed for use in areas with severe pollution (W-class), this outdoor version can be relied upon under troublesome environmental conditions including high humidity, dirt, and sun.

Pre-expanded Cold Shrink Design:

Pre-expanded for the cold shrinkable design it becomes much simpler to install since it will naturally contract onto the cable and form a secure watertight seal without the need for heating.

Main Components

Cable Lug:

The cable lug is created by using T2 copper, the cable lug has a secure connection linking the conductor of the cable with electrical equipment, granting efficient electrical and stability.

Termination Head:

The termination head is constructed from liquid silicone rubber for robust insulation weather resistance and protection from environmental and electrical stress at the cable end.

Stress Cone:

The stress cone is a semi-conduction adhesive material, which evenly distributes the electrical stress along the cable termination to reduce the risk of discharge and increase reliability.

Self-Amalgamating Insulation Tape:

The butyl rubber tape forms a tight, self-fusion insulation layer around the cable protecting it from moisture ingress and the dielectric strength.

Grounding Braid:

Created with T2 copper, the grounding braid creates a reliable path to the ground as a path for stray currents away from the cable.

Trifurcating Sleeve:

The Cold Shrinkable Cable Termination is made with liquid silicone rubber, facilitating separation and insulation of each core of the multi-core cable to prevent short circuits and phase isolation.
