Double Insulation Bar Suspension Insulator is a bara-type suspension insulator for power transmission and distribution having mechanical applications as well as efficient and reliable electrical insulation. Bracket support insulators are installed on structures for support while these suspension insulators are hung on a structure where the conductor string must be suspended as in the case of transmission structures for high-voltage transmission lines. This insulator has two insulating constituents typically in series so that the insulating properties of the device are enhanced, materials such as polymer composite can be used. The dual insulation design ensures thereby if one of the insulators should fail the other is still able to offer insurance against electric failure. This makes it especially appropriate for use in high-voltage circuitry where protection of the circuit integrity is desirable. Also, regarding the bar configuration it helps in absorbing mechanical loads evenly hence the accommodation of conductor weight as well as other forces influenced by the weather conditions for instance; wind or ice loading that puts extra pressure on the insulator.
Double Insulation Suspension Insulators are mounted on structures or hanged and they provide freedom to the conductors to hang which makes them suitable for applications in transmissions of high voltage. Brackets support insulators that rest directly on structures such as poles or towers and hence offer support to the conductor in a fixed position.
Bar Suspension Insulators are intended for suspension in only the vertical direction and bear the weight of the conductors but allow them to oscillate or move to any degree due to environmental forces. Bracket Support Insulators are designed and developed to withstand lateral force; they offer utmost support that allows for minimal conductor movement.
Bar Suspension Insulators are usually applied in transmission structures in lines where there are long distances between the structures and hence the conductor must be suspended. Bracket Support Insulators are typically found in the distribution networks since the conductors used there are strung on shorter spans, and as such require greater support at fixed positions.
Bar Suspension Insulators often feature a simpler, more streamlined design focused on withstanding vertical forces, while Bracket Support Insulators typically have a more complex design to handle both mechanical loads and maintain electrical clearance in various configurations.
Just like the double wall protection enhances the safety of the container there is double protection to prevent short-circuiting in any circumstances. This is important since systems require constant operation in such environments to cater to the risks present. Such redundancy is especially important because it means the systems can continue to run if one fails.
The utilization of two insulating elements also helps to distribute the electrical and mechanical loads over the surfaces, hence spreading the wear and tear loads and increasing the overall service life of the insulator. This makes it a cost-efficient system in the long run as compared to other systems that need special hardware for their execution.
These insulators incorporated with double insulation can provide adequate cover against severe environmental conditions, including heavy pollution, or salt fog humidity, or extreme fluctuating temperatures that can change the performance of those insulators.
By design the double insulation bar composite suspension insulator can carry high mechanical loads and, therefore, is suitable for use where conductors are further loaded by weights such as snow, ice, or wind loads.
These insulators are suitable for use in high voltage transmission lines in the regions considered to be affected by either a high rate of rainfall or pollution such as the coastal regions or industrial areas respectively. Ensuring optimum insulation and mechanical support through their design, they are suitable for such circumstances.
Used where high conductors are situated to cover large distances between the supporting towers and to provide mechanical and electrical support in areas of high voltage and fluctuation, dust, wind, etc.
In particular, for the transmission lines situated in the areas that are remote or located in mountain areas, it is possible to achieve increased reliability and service life by using these insulators, which means that it will not be necessary to inspect them very frequently or replace them very often.
These suspension insulators are mainly used in emergency power supply applications, in which the continuity and the safety of the power feed-in are highly important, for instance, feed-in substations that supply energy to major industries and cities.
