What are Porcelain Fuse Cutouts?

Porcelain cutouts are protection devices that are applied to circuits where electrical energy is transmitted from one transformer to another via lines. Its main purpose is to interrupt the electrical current in the case of a faulty load including a short circuit or overloading. It has a fuse element, a porcelain body, and accessories for its installation to other vessels. The porcelain body contributes to insulation and mechanical strength so that the device will be resistant to environmental conditions as well as electrical stresses. It is an extremely robust and replaceable component that develops a high temperature, melts or vaporizes when the current exceeds a predetermined value, and causes an interrupt in the circuit to safeguard several units of equipment that follow the circuit.
